Partnering for Accessibility: We Improve For You’s London Project with a Local Wellness Non-Profit

When a local wellness non-profit approached We Improve For You with a heartfelt mission—to create a safer and more accessible bathroom for a special needs teenager—we knew it was an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Based in London, our 5-star rated and fully insured bathroom remodeling company has always believed that design and functionality go hand in hand. This project was not only about improving a space—it was about improving a life.

Understanding the Client’s Needs

The non-profit organization reached out to us on behalf of a family facing daily challenges with their bathroom setup. The existing wet area was unsafe and impractical for the teenager’s needs. The family had been awarded a grant to assist with the remodel, but the budget was limited. Our team was determined to make every penny of that grant count while ensuring the result would provide lasting comfort and safety.

The existing bathroom was outdated and lacked essential accessibility features. The wet area design posed significant risks, including slippery surfaces and a high tub threshold that made independent use difficult. The goal was to create a space that supported the teenager’s physical requirements while maintaining a modern, cohesive aesthetic for the rest of the family.

The We Improve For You Solution

Our team immediately began planning a comprehensive upgrade that balanced accessibility, safety, and design excellence. Every step of the remodel was approached with care and collaboration between our design experts, installers, and the non-profit organization overseeing the project.

• Full Bathroom Removal: We started by completely removing the existing bathroom to give us a clean slate for accessibility-focused redesign.
• Low-Threshold Shower Installation: The new shower was the centerpiece of the remodel, featuring a low threshold to ensure easy, barrier-free access.
• Slip-Resistant Surfaces: All surfaces were upgraded with materials that provide maximum traction and safety.
• Modern Finishes: The family wanted the new space to feel inviting and stylish, so we incorporated modern, easy-to-clean wall surrounds and fixtures.
• Custom Layout Adjustments: The configuration was reimagined to improve movement and accommodate mobility aids if needed.

Throughout the process, our installers worked closely with the non-profit and the family to ensure the project stayed on schedule and within the grant’s financial constraints. We also made sure that every product used was durable and easy to maintain, allowing the family to enjoy the benefits of the remodel for years to come.

Results That Change Lives

When the project was completed, the transformation was remarkable. The once-cluttered and unsafe space had become a bright, secure, and functional environment tailored to the teenager’s needs. The family expressed their deep gratitude for the difference this remodel made—not just in convenience, but in daily peace of mind.

The new low-threshold shower made independent use possible, while the improved layout eliminated unnecessary obstacles. The materials chosen provided both durability and a clean, modern look that elevated the home’s overall appearance. For the teenager, this bathroom wasn’t just a new space—it was newfound confidence and independence.

Beyond aesthetics and safety, this project reaffirmed what We Improve For You stands for: combining craftsmanship with compassion. We understand that bathrooms are deeply personal spaces, and the right design can empower individuals to live more comfortably and confidently.
