Located on Lambert Road in the quintessential New England town of Orange, CT—a place famous for its historic farms, crisp autumns, and being the world headquarters of PEZ candy—Jackel had a bathroom that was, well, entirely out of sweet surprises.
When you live in a town that practically invented colorful, modern candy dispensers, you don’t want a bathroom that dispenses pure, unadulterated 1990s builder-grade blues. It was time for a change, and We Improve For You was called in to perform some serious magic.
The Challenge: The “Before”
Take a peek at the “Before” photos, and you’ll instantly feel a wave of nostalgia (and not necessarily the good kind). Jackel’s bathroom was suffering from an acute case of the “Beige and Boxies.”
The floor was covered in standard square tiles featuring grout lines that had fought a long, losing battle against time. The jetted tub was surrounded by a tiled deck that was practically begging to be chipped. But the real villain of this story? The fiberglass shower insert. Tucked behind a heavy shower curtain, the old shower stall offered all the spacious luxury and aesthetic charm of a highway tollbooth. It was functional, sure, but surviving a freezing Connecticut winter morning requires a shower that feels like a warm hug, not a plastic Tupperware container.
The Solution: “We Improve For You” to the Rescue
The crew at We Improve For You arrived with a plan to bring this Orange, CT home into the 21st century without losing its cozy, warm-toned charm.
First, the clinical tile floors were evicted. In their place went gorgeous, water-resistant luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring with a rich wood-grain look, immediately adding rustic warmth to offset those chilly New England mornings.
Next, the crew tackled the tub and shower. The dated tile surrounding the tub was ripped out and replaced with a sleek, continuous solid-surface material, giving the drop-in tub a high-end, seamless look.
But the crowning achievement was the shower overhaul. The crew ripped out the old fiberglass shell and installed a state-of-the-art walk-in shower. They utilized a top-tier Breeze shower pan featuring a perfectly pitched Shower Center Drain to ensure water flows exactly where it should—down the pipes, not onto the new floor.
The Outcome: The “After”
The transformation is nothing short of spectacular.
Jackel now steps into a brilliant, glass-enclosed shower featuring bright, clean white horizontal tiles accented by a dazzling glass mosaic strip. The heavy shower curtain has been banished in favor of heavy-duty, frameless sliding glass doors that make the entire room feel twice as large. A convenient corner seat was even added for those days when you just need to sit and contemplate how good your new bathroom looks.
By upgrading the flooring, modernizing the tub deck, and turning a claustrophobic shower stall into a glass-encased spa experience, We Improve For You didn’t just renovate a room; they elevated Jackel’s entire morning routine.
The original peachy-orange walls (a fitting nod to the town’s name!) now pop beautifully against the crisp white wainscoting and the modern gray tones of the shower and tub surround. It’s a bathroom finally worthy of its zip code—refreshing, stylish, and an absolute treat.
