When our team at We Improve For You first met the homeowner on Windsor Rd in Milford, CT, they expressed feeling cramped and confined in their existing bathroom. The fiberglass unit that had been installed years ago made the space feel closed in, and it lacked the clean, contemporary appeal they envisioned. Their goal was simple yet transformative: to replace the outdated setup with something more open, elegant, and timeless.
As a 5-star rated and fully insured bathroom remodeling company based in London, We Improve For You takes pride in designing and delivering bathrooms that combine beauty, functionality, and comfort. For this project, we knew that small design choices could make a big impact on the overall atmosphere of the room.
Understanding the Client’s Vision
During our consultation, the client emphasized two key desires:
- To eliminate the enclosed feeling caused by the fiberglass unit.
- To achieve a sleek, modern look that would make their daily routine feel refreshing and relaxing.
We carefully studied the existing layout and lighting, paying close attention to the ways we could introduce more openness into the space. The bathroom’s footprint was modest, so we focused on design strategies that enhance spatial perception—maximizing natural light, refining material selections, and using transparent and reflective surfaces strategically.
After reviewing our recommendations and design mockups, the homeowner approved our proposal to replace the fiberglass unit with a more open, contemporary shower system.
The Transformation Process
Our renovation approach for this Windsor Rd home balanced precision craftsmanship with high-end design detail. Here’s how the transformation unfolded:
1. Removal of the Existing Fiberglass Unit
We began by carefully dismantling the old fiberglass tub-and-shower enclosure. These older systems often make bathrooms feel smaller because of their bulky design and opaque surfaces. Once removed, we were able to fully assess the plumbing and substructure, ensuring that everything met our quality standards before proceeding.
2. Installation of a Spacious, Modern Shower System
The client chose a low-threshold shower base paired with a frameless glass enclosure. This design immediately opened up the room, allowing light to flow freely throughout the space. The clear glass panels also created a more seamless transition between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, removing the “boxed-in” sensation.
3. Elegant Wall Surrounds and Fixtures
We upgraded the wall surrounds with a durable, high-gloss acrylic surface in a soft marble tone—combining low maintenance with upscale aesthetics. The smooth texture and subtle veining added both depth and luxury to the space. To complement the modern look, we installed a brushed nickel rainfall showerhead and matching fixtures, balancing sleek design with long-term reliability.
4. Finishing Touches That Elevated the Space
Every detail was selected to align with the client’s vision of modern simplicity. We included built-in shelving for functionality without clutter, and bright LED lighting to enhance the sense of space. Finally, we installed a clear glass door with polished hardware, adding a touch of elegance and fluidity.
Results: A Bathroom That Feels Open, Airy, and Contemporary
The end result was a stunning transformation that exceeded the client’s expectations. The new bathroom now feels bright, inviting, and spacious—precisely what the homeowner had hoped for. The formerly confining fiberglass unit has been replaced with an open, breathable design that maximizes both comfort and visual appeal.
The client shared their satisfaction with how quickly and professionally the project was completed. They particularly loved how the new shower area now feels like a personal spa—modern, accessible, and beautifully finished.
